Our little tank

Our little Nash is not so little anymore. We are just loving this time. He has come to life and has the cutest little personality. We went this morning to his 2 month checkup. He is now weighing 13 lbs and 1 oz. He is in the 75% for weight. He is 24 3/4 in length which is the 95%- he definitely comes by it honestly. What a blessing he is to our family and we are so happy that he is growing!

Someone needs a haircut!

So I have been putting off haircuts for as long as I possibly can. Just don't want to take Nash out too soon and I figure since we are mainly just home, it is not that big of a deal. Anyway, this morning while they were having a bath I stuck their hair straight up. They thought it was so funny and so I thought I would snap a few pictures. I just love to watch them have so much fun together. I pray that their relationship just gets better as they get older.

We Did It!!!

So today was the first time I went into a store with all three children. We still are trying to keep Nash home but I needed to pick up a chicken at Costco to take to a family in our ward. So I had the serious pep talk or "threat talk" with them. I told them that Nash is not suppose to be at the store so we were going to hurry. I told Luke and Harlee they needed to sit in the front of the cart. Poor Luke is so big and barely fit but I knew if he walked then Harlee would think she needed to walk. So they were in front and Nash's seat in the back. They were so good and were rewarded with a Purple Drink- their Costco fav! I was so grateful for this experience. I think I will be able to do it. It may take some threats and bribery but I may one day master the outings with three children. Maybe there is a chance for one more addition to the family??

*I wanted to get a picture of all three of them together to post with this entry. As you can see it was quite the ordeal with not much to show for it. I must also note that they have changed since the store experience. I may be a little stressed with getting them all ready but I would not have let them go to Costco in their chosen attire!

Family Home Evening

For family home evening on Monday night we were all reading from the Book of Mormon for children. We just purchased this book off of KSL and Joey had the great idea to read one story each Monday for family night. Luke and Harlee were really excited and both paid attention to every word. We read about Joseph Smith and when Heavenly Father and Jesus appeared to him. We also read about Lehi and when he was told to flee Jerusalem. After dinner and the lesson, we were taking our Wii to Highland to be fixed when Luke brought up the lesson. He said: "When Heavenly Father and Jesus appeared to me they told me that Harlee needs to make better choices and she needs to be good." He seriously cracks me up. I love how he is inspired to make Harlee better- how noble! He has the best memory and even a few days later could tell us the details of what we read. I am grateful for Family Home evening and the opportunity it gives us as a family to learn and grow in the Gospel.

A New Call

I have been meaning to write about this but Joey and I were given new callings in our new ward. We were called to be Gospel Doctrine teachers. Talk about the calling that I thought I would for sure never get. I feel completely unworthy and unprepared. I know that Joey will do an amazing job. He has such a strong and tender testimony of the gospel and I know that he will touch all of those who hear his lessons. I do have a testimony though that you are called by Heavenly Father and so we will learn and grow so much through this. Joey and I count as one teacher and have the option to either team teach or switch off. The good thing is that there are 3 other teachers and so we only need to teach once a month, every other if we switch off. I am so grateful to be able to endure this calling with Joey. He is a true example to me. I pray the next time I read this that my tremendous fear has turned to gratitude for all that I am learning.

How does this happen?

Before we even went downstairs this morning all of the kids had a bath. Nothing like starting the day off all clean! I cannot believe how quickly this little girl can go from cute and clean to disastrous! I had to take these pictures of her after her nap. Her outfit had changed since this morning, she is wearing her lunch and her hair that was combed is all over the place. Even though she is kind of a ragamuffin she is still the cutest little girl. Welcome to the daily occurrence at the Childs home- so much for the prissy girly girl I ordered!

Growin like a weed

Our little Nash is not so little anymore. It is amazing to me at this age how change occurs on a daily basis. He has started smiling and loves to try to talk to you. Luke and Harlee always say "He's telling us a story!" He is so cute and is such a blessing in our family. It is crazy how you somewhat feel complete before they get here but now I cannot imagine our family without him. We love you Nashie!!

Why is there so much laundry?

It is amazing to me how I can finally empty a hamper only to have it full the next day. I feel that there is only one person to blame- Luke. Now that Harlee loves to do everything that her big brother does, she is just as much to blame. I have never seen someone change their clothes so much. I must give them A's for creativity. In the pictures I will post you will see their version of black spiderman and cool superheroes. How can you get mad when they are using their imaginations to the fullest and loving every minute of playing together. I know that it is just a phase and it is actually preparing me for when there are more kids clothes to wash. Maybe I should be thanking them!!

Valentine's Day

This year I thought it would be fun to make Valentine's Day about the kids. Since we knew we would not be having a hot date because of the Nash situation, we focused more on the little ones. I decided that we could decorate sugar cookies. They loved it. They decorated their cookies with all of the options on their plate. Then they realized that the cookies tasted a lot better without all of the toppings. So they took off all of the candy and enjoyed the cookies. It was a fun experience that just might make a return appearance next year.

While we are on the Valentine topic, let me mention that I have the best Valentine. Joey is such an amazing husband and is truly my best friend. When we got married I questioned if it could ever get better than that day. I am amazed at how much more I love him now than on our wedding day. He is a great example to me and my greatest blessing.

Who is your best friend?

Who is your best friend? This is a question I love to ask the kids. I always hope the answer is me but even if it is not, I can usually coax them into the answer I want to hear. Way to manipulate huh? Anyway, lately when we ask Harlee that question, there is one answer and one answer only. We say:

"Harlee who is your best friend?'

Without a moments hesitation she says:

"The Widdles" AKA "The Wiggles"

So much for the favorite Mom answer. I have been booted out by four grown men that sing. She is so in love with that show and I have to fight for computer time since YouTube has 49 Wiggles songs on command! I love that she is so passionate about them and if you think she loves them, Luke loves them 10 times more. Should we be worried about the singing and very perfected dance moves? They are both so fun and provide us with hours of entertainment.

PMC Round 2

Nash was admitted to Primary Children's Hospital on Sunday night. You might think it would be easier the second time around but that was not the case. He had been really sick since Wednesday and on Thursday we took him to the doctor. He said that at the moment it was just a head cold but told us what to look for if it were to turn to RSV. On Sunday I went to church with Luke and when I came home Joey thought that Nash was weasing. We called the doctor and they said we should go to Primarys. Honestly, driving up there we thought we were really overreacting. We almost went to an InstaCare but decided that if there was something wrong they would send us to Primarys so we might as well go there. They tested him for RSV and he came back positive. Almost immediately they put him on oxygen. He was admitted that night and was just released yesterday. What a crazy emotional week. We were lucky to be in a shared room. The first night on the other side of the curtain was a young couple. The husband kept passing gas and laughing about it- not awkward at all! Then a Spanish lady who did not speak English moved in on Monday. So not fun to try to sleep with strangers. I spent every night up there and Joey stayed home with the other two. I am so thankful that he is doing better and home. I took him to the doctor this morning to find out that he also has 2 ear infections. Could this cute little guy catch a break? We hope that he continues to get better- We love you Nash- you are such a fighter! *Luke and Harlee were allowed to come visit if they wore a mask- do you think we had any complaints out of the two who love the costumes? They even brought the gloves and masks home to play doctor.

$45 of Pure Fun

We decided when we moved in that we would get an in ground trampoline for the kids. For anyone that knows us, we love a bargain and almost refuse to pay retail. We have been looking on KSL for a trampoline and Joey found one for $45. It is above ground for the moment but we will be getting it installed in a few weeks. For now the kids could not be more excited and Mom cannot wait until it is more safe and in the ground!

Our Student of the Week

Wednesday morning was very crazy. I was trying to tend to 2 sick kids and get Luke ready for preschool. To say that we were rushing would be an understatement. So I go to get his backpack to realize I had not checked his homework from Friday. I open his backpack to find out that he is Student of the Week and I needed to send a poster with him to school that morning. Hmmm- quite the surprise and not the best timing. I was freaking out but then my neighbor who had carpool talked to Miss Mikki and she said that I could bring it Friday. I felt so bad that I was so stressed about the poster that I did not even celebrate with Luke the fact that he had earned this honor. So when he got home we talked about him being student of the week. He said that Miss Mikki told him that he was student of the week because he is good at telling when people are good and good at telling when people are bad. Such a perfect description of Luke. We are so proud of him. I was up until midnight on Thursday finishing the poster but it was so worth it. When Luke woke up on Friday morning he said "Mom you are the best, this is the coolest poster. And I am Student of the Week." At this point he raised both arms in the air like he was the champion. So great! We love Luke so much and are not surprised that he was chosen as Student of the Week.

History Repeats Itself

For anyone that knows me, I really do not have the best memory so the fact that I remember this story from my childhood it must have really impacted me. I remember when Jenna and I were little, I think that we were 5, we were taking a bath together. Jenna turned all of the cold water off and we both started screaming because the water was burning us. When my dad came into find out what was wrong Jenna said that the water was too hot. When my dad asked who turned the cold water off Jenna said that Jamie did. My dad asked, "Are you sure that Jamie did it?" Jenna agreed so my dad pulled me out of the tub and spanked my bare bottom. I was really upset and Jenna then admitted that she had been the one to turn the cold water off. I remember that she was punished by not being able to get Baskin Robbins that night. I tell this story because something very similar happened in our home on Thursday. I was working out on the treadmill and trying to keep Harlee in there with me. She escaped for a minute when Luke came in screaming, "Mom come see what Harlee did". What Harlee did, I thought, she had just left the room. Anyway, he goes on to show me how she got marker all over the new table. I was wondering how she reached the marker and colored that quickly. So I asked "Luke, Harlee did this?" He said yes and I said Harlee I am going to spank your bottom. I barely tapped her but she started crying and I put her in a time out. Not a minute later Luke said "OK Mom, I did it!" I already knew but I did not let him know that. I sat him down and told him the story about Jenna and took away his computer privileges for the day. He also had to apologize to Harlee and promise never to lie again.

Out of the mouths of babes

Harlee has been really sick over the last few days so she has been sleeping in between us. Around 3am this morning I got up with Nash and Harlee woke up. She kind of has her dad wrapped around her finger and he got up with her to attend to her every wish. He took her outside to cool her fever , got her purple medicine (not pink as Harlee says since she does not like the pink), and then brought her back to bed. Every two seconds she was asking for a drink. Joey was really tired and trying to be patient with her. Then she snuggled up to him and said "I wub you daddy" and then I said I love you to Joey. To which Harlee said "No, I wub daddy. Mommy, you wub baby Nash". She is so funny. We always ask her who Mommy or Daddy's baby is. If you are her favorite that day then she is your baby and Nash goes to the leftovers. I just love all of the funny things she says. She has the funniest personality and brings so much joy into our home.

He loves it

Third times a charm I guess! We have tried with all of our children to get them to love the swing. Just another option for them and for a free moment. Neither Luke or Harlee were fans of the swing but we bought a new one for Nash last night and he loves it! It was so great this morning to be able to put him in the swing and get the treadmill done. I am thinking that the swing will be about some sanity in the Childs home. Thanks Nash for being so cooperative!
