This afternoon Joey left for a business trip to Philadelphia. He was suppose to go this week for two days and then next week for a couple, coming home for a few days in between. But with a baby on the way soon he asked to combine the two trips. He left today and he will be back on Thursday. Seriously, I do not know how I am going to do it. Over ten years with this amazing man and I still cannot stand being without him. He is such an perfect husband and father. I rely on him so much and I feel lost without him. I just pray he comes home safely and that this time flies by. I am counting the hours until Thursday.
We are the Childs family. Joey and I have been married for 23 years. We five beautiful and busy children: Luke is 21, Harlee is 18, Nash is 16, Gray is 15, and Tag is 13. Our days are CRAZY! We never stop going but love every minute of it!

Miss him already....

"I LIKE You"
I really believe that they come as they are. They grow and develop here on earth but their personalities are eternal! Nash came as our master manipulator. Seriously, where does he learn half of the stuff that he does? Lately he has been saying "I like you" to get what he wants. If he can tell that he is in trouble he will say "Mom, I like you!" in this cute voice accompanied by a cute smile. He does not stop there, he loves to tease Joey. Joey will say "Nash, I like you!" to which Nash replies "Dad, I don't like you". What a little stinker. We honestly do not know where he has learned this but he never stops trying to work it to his advantage. Who knew a three year old could be so smart?
Cars
Gray is our car boy! He loves cars. He loves to line them up and push them around making the cutest car sounds. The other day I had to wait until he was completely asleep until he would let me take a car out of each hand. He is too cute! I am loving how he will play independently and give his mom a little break! It is so fun to watch these kids grow and each have their own personalities and interests.
Junior Jazz Basketball
We just finished Luke's basketball season. This year he played on a team with his friend Logan. Logan's dad was their coach and he did a really good job. Luke would have games every Tuesday night and practice on Friday nights. It was so fun to watch his progress from game one to the last one. He did really good and we are so proud of him. He is putting that height to good use!

2nd grade Breakfast of Champions
On Friday I had the opportunity to go with Luke to school in the morning to his Breakfast of Champions. This is where the students show their parents some of the things that they have been working on and the read to them. Since Luke's teacher was out sick, they did not have much to show us. So we spent time reading a book and then cleaned out his desk. WOW!! Who knew you could cram so much stuff into such a tiny space. We also found his report card he was suppose to bring home about 5 months ago! Luke is such a good student and it was fun to see him in his element. After we finished in the classroom we got to enjoy some juice and doughnuts. Fun morning!
*Luke just got a full zip volcom he has been wanting for a long time. He wanted me to take a picture to show it off.
The Journey of Tag

We have known from the beginning that this pregnancy might be a little more complicated. Before deciding to have one more child, we met with Dr. Reese and he assured us we would do all that we could to have a healthy baby that does not have to go to the NICU. About 4 weeks ago, he sent me to see a perineonatologist. Her name is Dr. Dizon-Townsend and she is great. She told be that I am carry a lot of extra fluid. You are suppose to have 10-20% and I am at 28%. The baby was also measuring about 2 weeks ahead. So they thought that I might have gestational diabetes. I had the test done and I do not have it. My levels are normal. So I went back again today for another ultrasound. Seems my fluid levels are still high. I am almost 27%. The baby is now measuring 3weeks and 2 days ahead. He is already 5 lbs 5 ounces and I am only 31 1/2 weeks. He is going to be gigantic. His head is measuring over 36 weeks. That will be fun! So now the plan is to go to the hospital 2 times a week until I deliver for non-stress test and to test my fluid. I will have another ultrasound on March 19th and she will decide if I need to have a c-section. I really hope not. They are going to give me a steroid shot at 34 weeks to make sure his lungs are developed in case he comes early. They are going to induce me at 39 weeks but she does not think I will make it that far. I am just praying this little guy is healthy. I had a blessing a few weeks back from the Bishop. In the blessing he talked about how this little guy is one of his choicest spirits and that he will be healthy. All of these doctor's appointments will be worth it.

War wounds
Poor Gray. He really looks like he has been through the ringer. He is recovering from the bike pump incident and now he has fallen out of a chair. He hit his eye and it left quite a mark. Poor little guy! I just hope that his face heals before he has the opportunity to get another wound. Be careful litte Gray.

The scary phone call
As I mentioned in the Valentines post, we had a scary experience yesterday. The morning was so crazy. We were running around all morning and I was really looking forward to some down time while the little boys napped. I was getting Nash to sleep when the phone rang. It was the school. They said that Luke was in class and he fainted. I called Janet who ran over to sit with the napping boys and rushed to the school. He did not look good- white as a ghost. I brought him home and got a call from Luke's teacher Mr. Rocque. He told me that he felt Luke had not fainted but rather he had a seizure. I was FREAKING out! I called his pediatrician and they said to bring him in. It was perfect timing because Grandpa and Grandma Childs were driving home from Salt Lake. They came over to watch the little ones while I took Luke in to be checked out. I have never asked Luke if he was ok so many times. I was so worried about him. So we got to the doctor and they asked Luke a bunch of questions. They tested him for strep throat and it was positive. They said that sometimes strep shows up as dizziness and fainting. So random. I was so sorry that he was sick but so happy to have an answer. I seriously do not know what I would do if anything ever happened to Luke or any of our children. I am just so glad he is ok and on antibiotics! So grateful for friends and family that I can call in moments like this.
Valentines Day 2012

Happy Valentines Day! It was a day that started early for me. I could not sleep so at 4am I was setting up the treats for the kids to find when they woke up. They each got some new clothes and candy. Luke was especially excited about his Volcom sweatshirt. It was such a busy day. Harlee had dance then I helped in Luke's classroom for his Vday party. Then we had a unexpected scary event that I will post about in a minute. Then we got heart shaped pizza for dinner. It was not the typical day full of love but all that we went through made me realize once again how much I love my family. I feel so blessed to not only have my perfect Valentine for eternity but we are also surrounded by little ones that we love so much.

Sibling Rivalry?
What does this

this

and this

have in common? Look closely at Gray's bulging forehead. Nash thought it would be fun to hit Gray with the air pump. Poor little guy. His forehead looks awful. My friend Lacie is a nurse practitioner and I ran him over for her opinion. She said it looks really bad but she does not think it caused any permanent damage. Is this a glimpse into my future as a mom of four boys? Kind of reminds me of a story when Joey was little. He was sick of Ryan riding his new bike. So he loosened the screws to teach him a lesson. The next time Ryan rode the bike down the hill it fell apart. I believe Ryan got hurt pretty bad maybe even chipped a tooth. I hope that we live through the next 15 years! Nash better just pray that Gray never gets bigger than him!

Our weekend in St.George

As I mentioned in the last post, we bought a new place in St. George and decided we had better go down and see it. We are nearing the end of this pregnancy, so if we were going to go down it had to be soon. It was not our favorite trip to say the least! Poor Gray was so sick. He started coming down with something on Thursday night and it just got worse each day. Joey and I tried to still make it fun for the others in between cleaning up throw up and snuggling Gray. We promise our next trip will be much more fun!
We bought a new place!

We have loved having a condo down in St. George. The problem is that it is a one bedroom. Four kids in a one bedroom condo is not so much a vacation! It has been so great to rent it out but not practical for us to use. So with the prices and interest rates being so low, we decided to look for something bigger. We found a three bedroom townhouse, had John and Darolyne walk through it for us, wrote up an offer, and it was accepted. All of this happened within 4 hours! We got the place for $98,000! Such a great deal. It is 1460 square feet 3 bedroom and 2 1/2 bath. I was a little worried to buy it without seeing it first but there were other offers so we needed to act fast. We went down last weekend to see it and we are so excited. It will be perfect for us to go down and enjoy time together as a family. We close on March 2nd and the place will officially be ours. We are putting the other condo up for sale on February 20th and hope it will sell quickly!
