Nash's Camping Trip
Yesterday Nash left for his camp out with the Deacons. I am always impressed with Nash's willingness to attend all of his activities. Such a great example. They went and camped in American Fork Canyon. They set up camp, cooked hot dogs, and then played some games. After the games they went to the host campfire and roasted marshmallows. When they woke up this morning they walked to the reservoir before cleaning up. He arrived home around 10:30am. He had a great time with his quorum members. His only complaint was that it was freezing. We sent him with two sleeping bags, a blanket, sweatshirt, and a hand warmer. It was not enough- they woke up with frost on their tent. So happy that Nash gets to go and have these fun experiences and so grateful that I am not the one who needs to take him camping!

Nash's 12 year old trip
Finally!! The day has come for Nash to get to go on his 12 year old trip. Due to COVID we had to push it off for a little bit. On Thursday Joey and Nash left for San Antonio Texas. They arrived around 5:45pm, got the rental car, and then went to their hotel. They stayed at the Drury Hotel and said it was really nice. They even had a little front room and kitchen. Once they got settled in they went down to the River Walk to have dinner. They ate at a Mexican restaurant that Cory had recommended names Casa Rio. They relaxed the rest of the night and watched Impractical Jokers. They woke up early and had some free breakfast at the hotel. Minus the burn that Nash received from the waffle iron, the breakfast was good. They left and made their way down to the River Walk. They went to see the Alamo. Nash said it was good to see once in his life! Then they went to Ripley's Believe it or Not. Nash loved learning about all of the different things. On the wax museum side he was impressed with how realistic the wax statues looked. After that they went to Dave and Busters to play arcade games. After playing for a while they went to Whataburger for lunch. They walked back to the hotel and then went on a little road trip to Austin. Nash loved being able to see another part of Texas. They stopped and had dinner at Chuy's on the way home. I'm super jealous! I think I love that place a little more than Nash did. After dinner they drove back to the hotel to get some rest before their big day at Six Flags on Saturday. They got up and had breakfast at the hotel and relaxed a little bit. They then went and grabbed Raising Cain for lunch. This was Nash's favorite. Six Flags opened at 12:00pm and they were there ready to go. Besides the 99 degree temperature and humidity, they had a great time. They rode almost all of the rides with limited waiting. Nash's favorite ride was Goliath. They left there and went back to the hotel to cool off. They then went and grabbed some dinner and a milkshake before ending the night with their friends the Impractical Jokers. I love that they got to go and enjoy some time together. I feel so blessed that our kids can make these memories and maybe carry this tradition into their own families. So lucky! I am so happy that they had such a great time together.

Three generation afternoon
Today Harlee and I went to lunch with Mimi. We went to La Costa in Pleasant Grove. The food was amazing and it was fun to catch up with Mimi. After lunch we went to a place called W Nails. My mom and I got pedicures and Harlee got a manicure. It was such a cut place and we will for sure go back. Such a fun afternoon.

Cute Friends
Harlee has been friends with Audrey and Nicci since the third grade. They have such a cute friendship and love to spend time together. They eat lunch together every day at school and they are constantly texting each other. Tonight they were asked to be servers at the Skyridge Homecoming. They all looked so cute. I am so grateful for these good girls and the examples that they are to each other.
Starting early...
In four months Harlee will get her permit- I can't believe she will be fifteen soon. She wanted to drive with me to take Gray to his friends house. After we dropped them off I asked her if she wanted to try driving. She was a little nervous since we were in the truck but she did it. She is a really good driver- super cautious. She even used her turning signals in the empty parking lot. Great job Har.

Bishopric Date Night
A couple of weeks ago AJ Swope, who is currently in the bishopric, sent out a text inviting all TM 9th ward bishopric members to a dinner. In true Childs fashion, we tried to find a way out of it but did not have any luck. We went to a restaurant in Heber called The Back 40. We arrived last due to traffic but got great seats next to the Vera's, Norton's, and Alvord's. It was really fun to visit with all of them and catch up since they are no longer serving together.

Picture Retakes
Today was picture retakes at school. Luke and his friends thought it would be funny for their senior year to wear wigs and mustaches. This is what Luke decided to wear. So funny! Too bad the plan backfired. Luke was told to take off the wig but he was then required to take another picture. He said it turned out awful. I have emailed the yearbook teacher asking that they would please use his original photo that he took in August. Here's hoping his funny prank did not bite him in the behind.

Dog breeds around the world
Gray had his first sixth grade project due today. He decided to do his report on dog breeds around the world. He started working on his project on the day that it was assigned and he did an amazing job. He worked on his poster and Luke did the letters for him. So proud of you Gray- great job!

Gloria Falls
We decided to go on a hike this afternoon up in Little Cottonwood Canyon. We did the hike to Gloria Falls. Most this kids were not excited about the hike but Har and Nash decided to to join us. It was a little tough with a lot of uphill getting to the falls but it was so worth it. The falls were beautiful. On the way back Nash and Joey went ahead so Harlee and I got to chat. She is seriously the best. I love chatting with her. I love that she will open up and we can talk about anything. So grateful for some bonding time in nature.
Childs siblings weekend in Vernal
A few months ago KC asked if Joey would go on a siblings trip. We got his commitment and the planning began. John and Darolyne heard about it and they wanted to come. So Harlee and Luke said they were up for watching the other kids and Joey and I were on our way to visit his hometown. We stopped at Taco Amigo on our way up and arrived in Vernal around 8:30pm. We visited with everyone and we all went to bed around midnight. We stayed in an Airbnb which happened to be a family's home that they just rent out when they go out of town. Joey and I were lucky to stay in the 8 year old boy's room. We were joined by Donovan Mitchell and a list of goals- so funny. We woke up early on Saturday and went to breakfast at a place called Abby's. It was seriously the yummiest breakfast. After filling up we went to the Dinosaur national park. We took a shuttle up to see all of the fossils. After that we went to Josie's cabin, on a little hike, to see petraglyphs, and then to see the flag on the mountain. After the sites we went to DI, TJ Max and Ross. We then decided to go to Wingers for dinner. It was so fun to chat and enjoy some yummy food. After dinner we went back to the house and had a pickle ball tournament. It was so much fun. We started by mixing up the teams, I was with Mike, Joey and Mindi, and Jamie and KC. Jamie and KC ended up winning that tournament. Then we switched the teams to spouses. I was pretty impressed with how well everyone played and Joey and I won! I may have gloated a little with the running man! Mindi did her walk of shame in form of the form of the moonwalk. We then went downstairs to play games and watch the BYU game. It was so fun to spend time with Joey's family without any distractions. Such a fun weekend. We drove home this morning and were surprised with a super clean house. Harlee did an amazing job with the kids. It makes me excited to know that Joey and I can sneak away on a weekend and the younger kids are in wonderful care.
