Snow Patrol

As part of our church cleaning calling we were asked to be in charge of the snow removal for February.  It was really nice the first part of the month and then almost daily we were experiencing snow storms.  I did not want to call anyone last minute for help so this became our family's chore.  We would leave early before swim practice and all work together.  Luke and Joey were at work so they got off the hook.  I did not always have the best attitude as it was tough to find time for our new daily chore but the kids were so willing to help.  I so appreciate their examples and willingness to do hard things.

Movie Day

Today was a teacher day at school so we decided to go to the movies.  We went to see Sing 2.  It was such a cute movie.  Everyone loved it except for the biggest Childs critic.  Tag said it was OK.  Such a funny kid.  It was so fun to spend a little time together.  Luke had to work which is why he did not come.  Nash was going with his friends to see Uncharted which started before our movie ended.

Sunday in SG

When we woke up this morning, we had no idea that we would be driving home tonight.  But we heard the storm was coming on Monday and felt that it would be the safest option to drive home ahead of the storm.  So we were so grateful that we filled our day with tons of fun.  We started the day with a few more parade of homes.  This time Gray came with us.  We went to quite few home and one of the townhomes had us dreaming about some day owning an investment vacation home we can rent out.  After a few homes we grabbed Nash and Tag and planned to go to Hash House A Go Go for lunch.  The wait was over an hour so we decided to hit a few more homes while we waited.  This time Tag and Gray got to have a turn.  So fun!  We then went to lunch and it was so good.  Seriously one of my favorite St. George places to eat.  You leave so full and satisfied.  After lunch, the boys swam for a little while in the heated pool.  Once they were tired of the pool, Nash, Har, Joey and I hit a few more homes.  This is when we saw our favorite home.  It was seriously amazing.  My favorite part was the outdoor bathtub.  So beautiful.  We went home to clean a bit before having John, Darolyne, Carson, and Kylee over for dinner.  We did a pasta bar.  It was so good.  I loved visiting with all of them.  Once they had left, we finished up the cleaning and we were on the road by 8:15pm.  Knowing that we would sleep with the whole family under one roof that night, made it a little easier to leave my favorite place.  I am so grateful that we have this blessing and for all the memories that we get to make together.

Saturday in the SG

We drove to SG last night to enjoy the long weekend.  We left Luke at home since he wanted to hang out with his friends.  So weird to not have the whole family here.  Just a little foretelling of what is to come and I am not a fan!  Why do these kids have to grow up?  Anyway, we arrived last night around 11pm.  The traffic was not as bad as expected but pretty heavy the first and last 40 miles of the drive.  We woke up early and went to a few garage sales.  We did not find a lot but did find a new drill to keep down in SG.  After the sales we went to get some Dutchman cookies to take to John and Darolyne.  It was fun to visit them for a little while- they have been enjoying our dream life in St. George for the last six weeks.  After the visit, we went to try a new restaurant called Porkbelly's.  The food and the service was amazing.  We will definitely be going back when we come down for Spring Break.  After a great lunch, Joey, Har, Nash, and I went to a few Parade of Homes.  Gray and Tag opted to stay home.  We went to Hurricane to four different homes.  One was homes was designed by my friend Camille Kenyon.  She did an amazing job and it was so fun to see her.  The other homes were so beautiful also.  After the homes we went back and Joey took the kids to play pickleball.   It was a fun filled day!

Last Chance Swim Meet

Gray and Nash had a swim meet tonight at the American Fork Rec Center.  It was kind of different to have a swim meet during the week but the boys were ready to go.  They both did a great job.  Nash swam the 100 free where he cut over 3 seconds off his best time.  His time was 1:05:69.  He also swam the 50 back where he took off almost a second for a time of 36:42.  His last race was the 50 Free.  He is already so fast but was able to shave a little time off.  His 50 free new fastest time is 30:77.  So amazing!  Gray did a fantastic job also! He started with the 50 back where he swam about 1.5 seconds faster.  His new best time on this stroke is 37:92 and he got 1st place in his heat.  He then swam the 50 fly and got a time of 42:59.  His last race was the 50 Free.  He almost beat his fastest time when he got 32:39.  These boys are so fast and such amazing swimmers.  I am so proud of them.  They put in so much time and hard work perfecting their skill.  Such examples to me.

Day of Love

Happy Valentine's Day!  Love any opportunity to show love to the people who mean the most to me.  The kids woke up to a few tokens of our love- new sweatshirts for all, hats for the boys, perfume for Har, and candy for all.   I left Joey a couple of new sweatshirts, candy and a card in his closet. He left me some candy, a new tumbler cup, a beautiful card, and some money to buy myself a new shirt.  So nice of him.  I love "LOVE" so this is a favorite day of mine.  I am grateful for the opportunity fill our home with love and remind Joey and the kids how much they mean to me and how blessed I feel to have them in my life.

Super Bowl

We love the Super Bowl in the Childs family not because of the football but because of the opportunity to eat lots of junk!  This time however we were super excited about the half time show.  It was going to take me back to Cali and to the hood!  Performing at half time was Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J Blige.  I was so excited!  It was so fun to watch it with the kids who also have an appreciation for old skool rap.  It was honestly the funnest super bowl show complete with a surprise appearance from 50 Cent.  It was amazing.  The Rams beat the Bengels.  It was a great Super Bowl.

Latest Project

Har and Mom Construction have come together for another home improvement project.  We decided to start to update the basement.  We purchased really nice shelves and a tv console about a month ago and decided to do some vertical shiplap on the tv wall and paint it black.  It took us quite a while to talk Joey into removing the crown molding and baseboard, but as soon as I told him that Mindi said she would run the shiplap the length of the wall, we were a go.  We worked so hard, determined to have the basement put back together by Sunday night.  I did not want the project to go on any longer.  We are both so happy with the outcome.  Looks so good!  I love working with Harlee and improving our already beautiful home.  She is so patient and such a hard worker.  Such an example to me and the BEST business partner.

Nash's Date

Today was the day we were going to take Nash on his date for 2022.  We went to Alcatraz Escape Rooms at 9:30am.   We did the Extinct room that Nash chose.  Due to COVID they only allow four people in the room so it was just the three of us.  They had us start with the Red side.  We had so much fun working together and figuring out how to move through each room.  We were given an hour to finish.  By the time we were around 34 minutes in we were in the last room.  We were trying to figure out what we needed to do and Nash pushed a few buttons on the keypad and the door opened.  He had just made a guess and we finished the room.  It was so crazy!  The guy told us that he would let us use the rest of our time to attempt the blue side.  We had 26 minutes and we made it to the last room.  It was so fun to watch Nash think and figure things out.  After the escape room we went to Goodwood for lunch.  The food was so good but the conversation was even better.  I love this one on one time with our kids.  Such a fun day.

Snuggly Pup

Tonight Nash was relaxing on the couch and Ike jumped up by him.  He snuggled into Nash and it was just the cutest thing.  He is such a loving puppy and so good for all of us.  We just love him so much.  It was so sweet so I had to take a picture.  Love these two!

Talented artists

I love when the kids sit down and spend time developing their artistic talents.  They are all such great artists.  I had to take a picture of their latest pieces. So proud of them.

No school Friday

The kids had a day off from school today for a teacher preparation day.  They were so excited for the break.  Since my work has been a bit slower, I decided to take the boys to Airborne.  We got there when it opened and I was so grateful we did.  By the time we left I swear that all of Utah County was there.  It was so crowded.  Nash and Gray had an amazing time but Tag said he was bored!  Oh the honesty!  He is so funny.  I am so grateful that we could get out for a bit and have a little fun.

Nash's Patriarchal Blessing

Nash has been thinking about getting his patriarchal blessing for a little while now.  Harlee told him of how they did a devotional at HXP b...
