Not Alone

Sunday night was kind of a nightmare with Gray. He must have had an upset stomach (maybe from the fajita chicken I gave him- possibly my fault. So sorry bud!) and was up for hours. Joey and I were taking turns. Around 1am which was about 3 hours into the fun, it was my turn again. So I brought Gray downstairs to watch his favorite show the Wiggles. He was so sad and I thought this might cheer him up. After about five minutes I heard someone coming down the stairs. It was Joey and he had pillows and blankets for both of us. We were preparing for the long haul but so nice to not have to go it alone. This act may seem small but it is just another reminder to me of how lucky I am. Joey and I are a team. We can lean on each other when the times get tough. I felt the biggest sense of relief when he walked downstairs and I am so grateful for his support. We are so lucky to have each other! Thanks Joey for being there for me that night and always!
*Joey is just such a camera hog. Can't you tell how much he is enjoying these pictures??

Why don't we leave stuff out?

If the older kiddos ever wonder why they cannot leave their stuff out, here is the answer! Harlee left her gogurt on the couch and our little friend helped himself. He wears me out but I so love him!

Family Fun Day

Today is President's Day. I love when there is a holiday and we all get to be home together. Today we wanted to do something fun as a family. Joey suggested we go to Heber and go to the Dairy Keen for lunch. It is this cute hamburger place with a train that goes all along the ceiling of the restaurant. We enjoyed the drive there with Joey teaching the kids all about waterfalls, canyons, reservoirs, ice fishing, and tunnels. The kids loved it. We all loved the food and the atmosphere at the Dairy Keen. The kids were so well behaved and reminded me once again how lucky we are. We then loaded in the car and went through the drive thru for ice cream cones. After that we drove to Midway to see the Ice Castles.

The kids could not believe how cool they were.(literally!) What a fun day! I just love my family. I seriously could not be more blessed.

Oh the questions....

I think it is the age and definitely the gender but Harlee seems to always be talking! She loves to ask questions about everything.
"Mom why are we stopped at this light?"
"What are you eating?"
"Can I do nickjr?"
Last night she had the following conversation with Joey.
"Dad why do we have noses to smell things?"
Joey told her don't you like to smell things that smell good? Like lotion, flowers, candy, yummy food to which she said yes. Then he asked her about smelling dad's toots. She screamed no and could not stop laughing. Today Joey was telling us this story and when he said that part Luke said "Yeah, those rink!" They are such cute and funny kids.
Lately Harlee has been asking for a baby sister. Every time it is her turn to pray she always asks Heavenly Father to send a baby girl to our family. I guess someone is trying to tell us that we are not done in that department.
Harlee is such a chatty cathy but I would not have it any other way.

Nash's Speech

Nash seems to be following in his big sister's footsteps. When we took Nash to the doctor for his 2 year checkup, I expressed my concern for his lack of communication. Nash can say any word that you ask him to say. He is so smart already knowing his colors and numbers! But when he communicates with you he often says "Uh". Dr. D suggested we contact Kids on the Move. They are a non profit organization that helps children before the age of three with any type of developmental or communication delays. They came out and tested Nash a few weeks ago and showed that he was eligible for this assistance. He tested moderate (right before severe) with a delay in his expressive language. So this week we saw the nurse, tomorrow the developmental specialist comes to make sure there are no other issues besides communication, and then the following Tuesday we start the therapy. They are suggesting that Nash has low tone in the muscles in his face. He tends to keep his mouth partially open and drools a little. This makes it difficult for him to use his mouth to form words so he chooses not to speak. They said this is so common mostly in boys and they see a quick turn around. It will be so weird to hear him talking all of the time but I cannot wait. I am just so thankful for a doctor that is on the ball and for great insurance that allows us to go to regular check ups. The nurse said that we are so lucky to be doing this early and I just know we will see quick progress.

Valentine's Day 2011

Yesterday was Valentine's Day and it was a day full of L*O*V*E!!!! The kids woke up to their special mini pillow pets and treats. They had requested those for their gift and were super excited when they were waiting for them downstairs. Luke got the frog, Harlee the hippo, and Nash the monkey. Gray got his favorite cookies and puffs! They played all morning before school with their new friends and enjoyed a breakfast full of sugar! Thanks to Mimi coming over, I was able to go and help with Luke's Valentine's party at school. It was so fun to be there with him.

We had heart shaped pizza for dinner and finished the night with way too much chocolate. It was a great day.
Let me just take a moment to say a little something about my Valentine.

What a perfect man I am married to. I truly lucked out in the husband department. It is rare that you find someone who is your best friend, biggest supporter, partner, example and loves you no matter what! I love you Joey!

What a Mess!

What happens when your nice home teachers stay for a little too long and the only pacifier for the 8 month old wiggle worm is a red sucker??? Still super cute under that red mess and does not seem to be bothered by the stickiness.

End of Season

Yesterday was Luke's last basketball game for the season. I think he has found a sport that he loves. He does really well and he definitely has the height for it. He loves to practice making baskets and has really improved over the season. I think he will be participating in many more basketball seasons to come.

Nash and his unique toys

Lately Nash has been very creative when it comes to the toys he plays with. He will usually find an object of the day that he insists on carrying with him everywhere. He also insists on taking these objects in the car when we go places. Tuesday it was the walkie talkie charger including the cord and yesterday it was all the floss he had unraveled from the dental floss container. Today he found my breast pump and will not put it down. He thinks it is a megaphone and is having way too much fun with it. I am confident that he will die one day when he realizes what he was playing with. He is such a funny kid! Never a dull moment with our Nashie.

Valentine Princess

What happens when you have one girl in your family to doll up for special occasions?? It is kind of the pink explosion for Valentine's Day! She had her party at preschool today and was covered in pink. I love that she loves it though. She would definitely tell me if she did not! What a cute girl- how lucky are we?? Thanks Harlee for being such a good sport for your mom who may never have this chance again.

Gray's New Trick

I know I have mentioned it many times before but Gray is growing up way too fast! He is already all over the place, climbing stairs, pulling himself up on things, and now this.

What barely 8 month old baby stands on his head? He is going to make me crazy with worry. He is in the needs to be watched every second phase. Keeps me busy but I am loving how fun he is.

Nash's Patriarchal Blessing

Nash has been thinking about getting his patriarchal blessing for a little while now.  Harlee told him of how they did a devotional at HXP b...
