Cornrow Summer

For as long as I can remember Nash has wanted to grow his hair out in the summer and do cornrows.  Today we made his dreams come true.  His hair is not all the same length but we did the best that we can.  Enjoy Nashie!

Covid in St. George

On Friday night after the concert, I started feeling sick.  We still decided to go down to St. George.  Over the next couple of days everyone but Harlee and Nash felt sick also.  Since we all were not feeling good we basically relaxed and swam the whole time we were down there.  We did watch Waiting for Guffman as a family and we went to Fire Lake on Sunday for a little kayaking.  We came home on Tuesday night and we all took Covid tests.  We realized that is was the sickness we were suffering from.  Looks like Joey will be working from home this week and we will all be quarantining at home.  I really hope that we will all feel better quickly- this has been no joke.

Two nights in a row

Tonight Joey and I got to go to another concert.  We purchased these concert tickets in 2020 and the concert was finally happening.  We were seeing David Gray at the Sandy Amphitheater.  Justyna and Landon had tickets also.  We went to Cafe Rio for dinner before and then off to the concert.  We sat on the perfect side where we were shaded the whole time.  David Gray did not disappoint.  He started off by singing some of his favorite songs while dressed in a black suit.  He then took a short break before coming out in a white suit, ready to sing all of the songs from his White Ladder album.  He is such a great singer and entertainer.  We had the best time!!

Charles Wesley Godwin

Tonight Joey and I were so lucky to go to the Charles Wesley Godwin concert.  It was at the Depot in Salt Lake.  We got their early in hopes of getting one of the few available seats.  Unfortunately we found that it was $60 a person for a chair.  So we sucked it up, ready to stand for the whole concert.  Not an easy thing for us oldies.  We stood through the opening act "The Piedmont Boys".  They were pretty good.  After they finished the usher came and offered us a seat for $25 each.  Done!  We were so excited to get to sit and enjoy Charles.  He was seriously amazing!  It was such a great concert.  Not only is he so good live but he is so humble.  And there is seriously nothing better than enjoying a perfect concert with my perfect husband.  Such a memorable night.  I am a forever CWG fan!!

State Relay Team

Gray was asked to be on 200 IM relay team for state.  He was asked to swim freestyle which is a little bit of pressure since the freestyle leg of the race is the last one.  He is the one that crosses the finish line.  They were swimming against five other teams.  For the first part of the race they were in the bottom three but the last two swimmers turned it around and they ended up winning first place.  I was so excited for them.  Way to go Gray!!

She likes me...

It is no secret that Joey and I are big fans of singer songwriters.  We love to discover musicians that are up and coming, Emily Scott Robinson is one of those artists.  She is an amazing singer/songwriter.  She posted about a remake she had done of Patti Griffin's "When it don't come easy".  We love Patti and I could not wait for Joey to hear this song.  I tagged him on her FB post and she liked it!  I was almost as excited as when Lori McKenna liked my post.  Had to document this exciting moment!

Trip to Texas

Harlee and I just returned from an amazing trip to TX.  When Cory and Holly had their twins, we booked a trip to visit them in hopes of giving them a little break from the craziness.  We were hoping to help them but we got so much more out of the trip.  We got to love on Sophie, Lucy, and Smith!  It was so good for my soul.  They are the sweetest babies and I just love their family.  We did squeeze in a few trips to Torchy's, one to Chuys, and several to Buckees.  It was so fun to spend time with them.  While we were there, Cory accepted a job in Arizona and they will be moving in two months.  I love that they will be closer.  What an amazing trip.

Another Bathroom Complete

Each year we have renovated a bathroom.  This year we did Tag and Gray's bathroom.  Luke and Joey did the demo, we hired someone to do the plumbing and the tile.  Joey did the baseboards and casing around the doors.  Harlee and I did the navy shiplap behind the vanity.   It turned out so good!  We are hoping to do a half glass door but everything else is done.  I love seeing all of the updates!

Swim Meet

Today the boys had a swim meet in Holladay.  They were swimming a long course race but on a short course pool.  They were both a little nervous about the change since they have been practicing long course all summer but they both did amazingly.  I love that they get to enjoy this sport together.

More Summer Fun

As Erika would say "We are doing it!"  We are making the weekly fun happen.  This week we decided to take the kids to see the new Minions movie.  Everyone came- even Luke and Riley!  It was so fun.  Gray was so cute and dressed up for the occasion.  I am so glad that we are making time to go and do fun things this summer.  Next week, Museum of Curiosity.  Love these friends.

Fourth of July

I woke up so excited to have a day off and more family time.  The kids spent the morning relaxing while I got some food ready for our night with the Childs.  We went out to lunch- the boys got JCW and Har and I got Costa Vida.  It was so fun to eat and visit.  At 6:30pm we went to Jamie and Mindi's for a bbq and a little swimming.  John and Darolyne, Jamie, Mindi, Hailee, Ty, Wyatt, and Riley were there.  It was so fun to eat and chat.  After dinner Ty set off a few fireworks that they had bought before heading over to the baseball field for the firework show.  Grandpa and Luke did not go to the fireworks but everyone else was there.  The firework show was AMAZING!  I so love this tradition and hope it continues for many years to come.

Nash's Patriarchal Blessing

Nash has been thinking about getting his patriarchal blessing for a little while now.  Harlee told him of how they did a devotional at HXP b...
