Passing the Torch

Last summer Nash and Luke took turns mowing and edging the lawn.  Since Luke is now working, Joey decided to teach Gray how to do the yard.  Nash and Gray will now take turns.  Nash is a little bummed to share the earnings but since Nash was 11 when he started, Gray deserves the same.  Hopefully between the two of them they will happily keep the yard looking amazing!

ALL program

Before spring break Nash took a placement test to see if he could do advanced math in junior high.  We finally heard back on Friday that Nash made the program.  Only 29 of the students that tested were accepted into the class.  I am so proud of Nash and just know that he will do an amazing job.

Nash's Award Ceremony

Today was the big day!  We were able to go to the award ceremony Nash.  Joey was able to come home early so he could attend also.  There was a welcome from the principal and then the man from the Kiwanis club spoke a little bit about the award.  Then Nash's teacher was the first to present.  She did Nash's award first.  Here is what she said: "Nash Childs has been a student that has stood out to me since the beginning of the school year.  He is a student that is a fan favorite among the class.  He stands up for others and is always willing to give a helping hand.  Nash can easily determine right from wrong.  Nash is a great example to those around him and leads with a caring heart.  I knew Nash was my Hope of America student when he befriended the "new kid" and made sure he was never left out and knew the ropes of the school.  He is an amazing student and always gives 110% in class.  He strives to do his best and works hard at all subjects.  Nash is going to grow up to be an amazing gentleman and future leader.  Congratulations, Nash!  Mrs. Bennett"  What a tribute!  I am so proud of him.  He is such an amazing kid and I am so blessed to be his mom.

The Childs Garden

For years we have been wanting to start a garden.  We are finally doing it!  Joey and I went to liquidation team on Saturday and he found me a garden box.  With Tag's help he put the box together and also did a drip system for us.  Harlee and I went on Wednesday and picked out the plants.  We are growing tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, bell pepper, jalepeno peppers, and kale.  I really hope that something grows.  I cannot wait to have fresh vegetables to make salsa this summer.

Karate

Tag has been begging to do karate and I finally signed him up for a class at the Legacy Center. Today was his first class and he was super nervous.  It was a large class full of all age ranges up to adult.  I could tell that Tag was super nervous.  He tried his best and wiped tears away in between all of the moves. I felt so bad.  As soon as it was over he said "That class stressed me out".  He decided he did not ever want to go back.  Time to find the next thing that he is excited about.

Bucket Filler

Today was our first day back at church for the full two hours since last March.  Cannot believe that it has been over a year.  As we were walking out I asked Tag's primary teacher how he did in class.  She said that he had to share 3 things about himself.  The last thing that he shared is that he loves his mom.  He is seriously the sweetest.  It is crazy to think that we were going to be done growing our family after Gray.  I felt impressed to have one more.  I know that Heavenly Father loves me and knows me.  He blessed me with a child that tells me daily how much he loves me.  He also tells everyone else how much he loves me.  Words of affirmation is one of my love languages and Tag is the best at speaking this language.  He makes me feel loved and needed.  So grateful for my honest and open caboose.

Another Sleepover

The boys had Kai over tonight for another sleepover.  We bought a lot of snacks, ordered pizza, and they had so much fun together.  I love that even though they are no longer neighbors, whenever they see each other it is like no time has passed.  They have such a cute friendship and I love that they all can hang out together.  I hope they do not stay up all night.

Big Award

Today when Nash came home he told me that he had to go to the principal's office today.  I was a little confused and asked him to explain.  He then handed me a letter.  Nash was the boy chosen from his class to get the "Hope of America Award."  This is for a student who has demonstrated during the school year capacity for leadership, ethical and moral character, and outstanding academic accomplishment.  I am so proud of him!  I cannot wait until next Wednesday when we get to go watch him receive this award.  I will be the crazy mom screaming in the audience!  Way to go Nashie!

Saturday Baking

For the last few weeks Nash and Harlee have decided to bake.  I am not complaining!  They usually try to bake something new and clean it up while Joey and I are on our Saturday date.  Today they decided to make cookie monsters.  This consisted of a chocolate cupcake infused with homemade caramel.  Then topped with homemade blue frosting and a homemade chocolate chip cookie.  So much work but they were so yummy.  I am so grateful for my little bakers.  So fun for them to try new things and I so do not mind being the test taster.

Movie Night

Tonight Nash and Harlee decided to watch a movie outside.  Nevermind the fact that it was about forty degrees outside!  They don't let anything stop them from moving forward with their plan.  They set up the projector, got tons of blankets, and invited Tag out to watch the Bee Movie.  Gray came home from a birthday party and took Ike out to join them.  They made it almost through the whole movie.  I cannot wait until the weather is warm and we can do a family movie night in the backyard.

Luke's latest drawing project

For Luke's drawing class he had an assignment to do a portrait.  He chose to do a portrait of his favorite rapper Kid Laroi.  He found a picture that he wanted to replicate and he put so much time into this assignment.  I was so proud of him.  He did an amazing job.  I am so impressed with his drawing ability.  He has such artistic talent and I am so glad that he has gotten to work on it this semester.

Nash's Patriarchal Blessing

Nash has been thinking about getting his patriarchal blessing for a little while now.  Harlee told him of how they did a devotional at HXP b...
